I was getting lost in lolkatz the other night and ran across this. I don’t know why I think it so damned funny, but it appeals to me, so there ya go. Enjoy!
The real news is that I’ve added a plugin that makes the site iPhone compatible, but it seems even more gauche to say that something is “Now for the iPhone (available at iTunes)” than to use the old standby. In any case, the posts look just fine in the new format, but the photo galleries aren’t working yet. As ever, things are a work in progress. :-/
You might see the domain name change soon for my website. For a long time, I’ve thought about disassociating it from my name. Today I purchased DownTronic.com, which is the combination of two of my favorite musical genres: Downtempo and Electronica. That being said, I’m not sure the website will focus on music, but maybe music and tech (electronics) and the other odd bits of the world that fascinate me (like my almost unhealthy obsession with Bossa Nova and Samba).
I just ran an update to the newest version of WordPress, successfully fending off the alleged hordes of hackers. It’s an unlikely story, but I’ll stick with WordPress’ recommendation.
In other news, you haven’t heard from me in awhile. Please bear with me for a bit. This silence, at least, is golden.
Today is my first day sightseeing on my own. I first went to Tipitado (a surreal experience — but more on that later), but mow I’m sitting at a cafe having lunch in my favorite square (so far), though I don’t know what it’s called. It’s at the corner where Carrer de Torjillos meets the Carrer d’Or. The Parroquia de Sant Joan b. de Gracias. It’s just beatiful. The Surrounding buildings shade most of the plaza and the trees let through a dappled light, the heat of which is carried away by the light breeze.
The plaza is in the neighborhood of Gracia, which seems to have many squares, but I like this the best of all I’ve seen. A beer, some food and a beautiful Catalan square. What more could you want? Some photos? You got it.
We’re visiting El Templo de la Sagrada Familia right now. It’s probably the most extraordinary building I’ve ever seen. After so many years of admiring and studying it from afar, I’m really here! I can’t describe how I feel about his experience. I probably sounds silly, but it’s just.… Just amazing. Surreal. Real.
I mainly wanted to upload photos for everyone to see. I’ll try to caption them appropriately. I’ll be writing more of the actual experiences when I am on the plane home and have some time. As a teaser: I was pick-pocketed in the subway on the way back to the hotel on our first full day here. They didn’t get anything — I managed to hold onto my bag and a good samaritan threw back my passport holder — but it was a huge…learning experience. Anyhow, I’ll write more on that later. Here are some photos.
